John Lore is the Managing Partner of Capital Fund Law Group. John has spent his legal career focused on advising real estate, private equity, and hedge fund managers throughout the world.
John advises investment fund sponsors on all aspects of their business, from capital raising and fund formation to implementation of their business models. His representation of a broad range of asset managers allows him to keep abreast of emerging trends. Prior to founding Capital Fund Law Group,John practiced corporate and securities law at a number of law firms, including in the private securities practice group, resident in the New York City and Moscow offices of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld.
John C. Dworkin| Tax Attorney | Special Tax Counsel - Capital Fund Law
John practices in a wide range of tax law matters, with particular emphasis on structuring foreign investment in U.S. Real Estate (FIRPTA) as well as foreign investment in U.S. based real estate funds. John’s practice also includes representing real estate fund sponsors with respect to their offshore investment funds.
John’s experience includes over 20+ years of handling international tax matters, including substantial inbound tax structuring experience for foreign clients with respect to U.S. real estate. John is a current member of the Committee on Taxation of Business Entities of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and he has served as a panel member and speaker on cross-border tax structuring for various CLE programs.

An audit partner based in New York, Phil has more than 30 years in the real estate sector. Phil has a wide range of experience in providing audit, accounting, due diligence, and advisory services to real estate, finance, parking, construction, and hospitality clients.
His experience covers a wide range of client types, including public companies; owners, developers, managers, and tenants of office, retail, and residential properties; real estate opportunity funds; real estate investment trusts; private equity; government agencies; not-for-profit enterprises; lenders; syndicators; foreign investors; real estate advisers; asset managers; and construction companies. He is also a member of KPMG’s U.S. Asset Management Leadership team and the New York Financial Services Leadership team.

Joe is KPMG’s U.S. Tax Leader in the Publicly Traded Partnerships and Master Limited Partnerships practice and KPMG’s U.S. tax co-leader in the Umbrella Partnership Corporations practice.
Joe has provided tax advisory, structuring, modeling, and reporting services to investment management entities, including funds, limited partnerships, regulated investment companies, business development companies, small business investment companies, registered investment advisers, and portfolio companies.He has extensive experience with real estate investment trusts, corporate joint ventures, and closely held business organizations.
Jacob Werrett | Fund Manager| JMA Ventures, LLC
Jacob serves as General Counsel & Acquisitions at JMA Ventures, a full-service real estate investment and development firm. In his role, he assists in managing the firm’s legal needs, as well as sourcing and underwriting new projects.
Prior to joining JMA, Jacob practiced M&A law at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in San Francisco, a firm representing more tech companies in M&A transactions than any other U.S. law firm. Jacob worked as a real estate broker for several years prior to attending law school, and in 2006 co-founded a real estate brokerage, Thornton Walker, Inc. Jacob received a J.D. from the University of Connecticut Law School.
